The province of Saskatchewan (SK) is located in west-central Canada. It has a total area of 651,900 km² with 10% of the territory covered by fresh water, including rivers, reservoirs and the province's 100,000 lakes.

Its area is bordered to the west by Alberta, to the north by the Northwest Territories, to the east by Manitoba, to the northeast by Nunavut, and to the south by the American states of Montana and North Dakota. The estimated population is over 1.1 billion. Most of the population lives to the south and is concentrated between the capital Regina and the province's largest city, Saskatoon.

Saskatchewan is a landlocked province and its climate is predominantly continental, with a wide range of temperatures and very harsh winters with average temperatures of -5ºC to -25ºC. In summer, temperatures are between 11ºC and 27ºC.

Approximately 95% of all goods produced in Saskatchewan depend directly on the province's core resources (grain, cattle, oil and gas, potash, uranium and timber and products that are produced in the region).
