Alberta it is located in western Canada, between BC and Saskatchewan with an area of 661,848 km² and is home to more than 4 million inhabitants. Much of the province's population is concentrated in Edmonton (capital) and Calgary (largest city)

AB's economy is considered one of the strongest in the world, supported by the oil industry, agriculture and technology. The province is also recognized for its wealth of fossils and for having important natural reserves. The climate is considered humid continental with sunny and hot summers (average 32°C in the mountains and more than 40°C in the Southeast) and coldwinters.

In the north of the province receives cold arctic air, which often produces extreme cold conditions, producing minimum temperatures ranging from −54 °C in northern Alberta to -46 °C in southern Alberta, although temperatures in these extremes are rare.

Labor Market

In a post-covid economic recovery phase, AB continues to strengthen in recent months with the help of increased demand in civil construction and retail.

In January 2022, the employability index was around 2.3 million, representing a slight increase of +7,000 job opportunities (+0.3%) compared to December 2021 and +117,300 (+5.4% ) more than January 2021.

Full-time jobs decreased by -0.2% and part-time jobs increased by +2.5%. Overall, all economic regions saw a significant increase compared to the same period last year.
